This help prevent cheating and confusion during game play.  Simply put the markers on your cards and leave them on.  To show that the ability have been used,  simply flip them over to show the "Ability Used" side during your turn and flip them back after you finish your turn.  This method is much faster than taking the marker on and off the card and more concise than "tapping" the cards to prevent cheating.
