Cold-Hardy Red Pomegranate

The Cold-Hardy Red Pomegranate Bush is a resilient, fruit-bearing shrub that allows you to grow vibrant, delicious pomegranates even in areas with cooler temperatures.

  • Cold Hardy: Thrives in Zones 7-11, and down to 10°F, making it ideal for cold areas.
  • Delicious Red Pomegranates: Get large, vibrant red fruit with sweet, juicy arils packed with antioxidants and nutrients.
  • Ornamental Beauty: Lush green foliage, showy red-orange flowers in spring, and glossy red fruit provide year-round visual interest.
  • Compact Size: Grows up to 8-10 feet tall and wide, perfect for smaller yards or container growing.
  • Low Maintenance: Easy to care for and drought-tolerant once established.

This versatile variety is prized for its ability to withstand cold winters while producing an abundant harvest of ruby-red, juicy pomegranates. With its striking ornamental appeal—featuring lush green foliage, brilliant red-orange flowers, and glossy red fruit—the Cold-Hardy Red Pomegranate Bush is both a stunning addition to your landscape and a practical choice for homegrown fruit.

Perfect for Edible Gardens and Ornamental Landscaping

The Cold-Hardy Red Pomegranate Bush offers the best of both worlds: stunning ornamental beauty and the joy of harvesting your own pomegranates. Its compact size makes it perfect for smaller spaces, raised beds, or growing in containers on patios and decks. In the spring, this bush blooms with vibrant red-orange flowers that attract pollinators, followed by large, glossy pomegranates that ripen in the fall. With its striking appearance and delicious fruit, this shrub enhances any garden or landscape while providing a practical source of homegrown pomegranates.

Whether you're looking to add a unique, cold-hardy fruiting shrub to your edible garden or simply want to enjoy the ornamental value of this stunning plant, the Cold-Hardy Red Pomegranate Bush is a fantastic choice for both.

Why It's Great for Containers

  • Naturally Compact: Usually matures around 6–10 feet tall, but remains smaller in pots—typically 4–6 feet with pruning.
  • Self-Pollinating: You only need one tree to get fruit.
  • Cold Tolerant: More resilient than typical pomegranate varieties—can survive down to ~10°F once mature.
  • Beautiful and Tough: Shiny green foliage, brilliant orange-red blooms, and deep red fruit make it both pretty and hardy.

Easy to Grow and Care For

The Cold-Hardy Red Pomegranate Bush is well-known for its adaptability and ease of care. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, and once established, it’s highly drought-tolerant, making it an excellent choice for both experienced and beginner gardeners. This shrub requires minimal maintenance beyond occasional pruning to shape the bush and remove dead branches. Plus, its ability to withstand colder temperatures means you can enjoy homegrown pomegranates in areas where other pomegranate varieties may struggle.

Growing Tips:

  • Sunlight: Requires full sun (6+ hours of direct sunlight per day) for optimal fruit production.
  • Watering: Water regularly during the first year to establish strong roots. Once mature, it’s drought-tolerant and requires minimal watering.
  • Soil: Prefers well-draining soil and can tolerate a range of soil types, from sandy to loamy.
  • Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to encourage healthy growth and fruiting.
  • Pruning: Light pruning in late winter or early spring helps shape the bush and remove any dead or damaged branches.

Enjoy Fresh, Homegrown Pomegranates

The Cold-Hardy Red Pomegranate Bush produces large, deep red pomegranates that are not only visually stunning but also packed with sweet, juicy arils. These nutrient-rich seeds are bursting with antioxidants and can be eaten fresh, juiced, or used in cooking. Pomegranates ripen in late fall, giving you a beautiful harvest to enjoy fresh or store for later. Whether you’re making fresh pomegranate juice, adding them to salads, or simply enjoying them as a healthy snack, this bush delivers a generous yield of flavorful fruit each year.

Best ever
Flavor Name: Banana Bread, Size: 25.4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I’ve tried a few others brands. This one is the best. I’ve drank flavored coffee for years. Banana bread is 10 star worthy, rich in flavor and it doesn’t take a lot. Very smooth. I like it alot. I’m not looking for another brand because I already know where it’s good. I don’t mess around with my coffee ☕️ 🍌 🌰 🍞

Try it in a carrot cake, it is yummy!!!
Flavor Name: Chai Tea Concentrate, Size: 25.4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I have without question been extremely happy with all of the DaVinci syrups, and products I have purchased. This chai syrup really was perfect for making chai lattes for my wife, and adding some chai flavor to other drinks, and I even used it in some cheesecake frosting, and inside of a carrot cake recipe, and it was perfect. I strongly suggest that you try it in carrot cake, and in other things like frosting. The chai carrot cake I made ended up being the perfect compliment to a nice cappuccino. I made a bunch of cupcakes using the carrot cake mix with the chai, and the chai cream cheese frosting, and with a nice coffee made the coffee taste better, and the carrot cake complimented the coffee perfectly. I have made them a few times now, and will say don't overdo and put too much frosting onto the carrot cake, and it is something I can't recommend enough. I actually have been using it more it making baked goods, and little desserts more then for chai lattes even. It just really works perfectly in them.

Comparing to the coffee giant version
Flavor Name: Brown Sugar, Size: 25.4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Flavor Name: Brown Sugar, Size: 25.4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Starbucks comparison (from a personal standpoint): I’m fortunate enough to have a bottle of Starbucks Brown Sugar. Problem is, I’m almost out. Looking around at some alternative options, and reading the reviews- I see some saying this is a good substitute. Because I happen to have the syrup on hand, I figured I should see if it is, because it would be great given the low cost of DaVinci syrup. This picture I’m attaching is just to see the color difference. Consistency wise, the DaVinci syrup is much lighter, more runny. The Starbucks is definitely a thicker liquid, that runs much slower. Flavor is the big one: DaVinci is lighter on taste, and sweeter. The best way to describe the flavor is comparing DaVinci’s to 100% real maple syrup that’s been diluted down with water. It’s good, but not really similar (in my opinion) to Starbucks Brown Sugar. Starbucks is more smokey in flavor, more strong/bold. My drinks are made using espresso, oak milk, cinnamon powder, and ice. I made my drink the same way, but used DaVinci Syrup this time. I found that the same amount of syrup that I use for the Starbucks, didn’t feel like it had a strong enough flavor. What did I do? I added an extra ounce of DaVinci hoping to get a stronger flavor. The problem is, DaVinci is more sweet than the Starbucks syrup (in my opinion) and ended up making my drink taste too sweet. It’s sweet enough that I’m not going to finish drinking it. I’m not knocking the DaVinci syrup itself. I think it’s a good brand and a good flavor. It’s just not the flavor I was hoping would solve my issue for a Starbucks imitation. I would encourage anyone to still try this syrup, but do so to enjoy it for being its own flavor.

Almost tastes like chocolate milk!
Flavor Name: Chocolate, Size: 11.5 Fl Oz (Pack of 12)
I usually dislike protein drinks. But I need It, and this one actually almost tastes like chocolate milk. I’ve tried the other flavors of this brand, and for me, this is the least protein tasting one. Banana came close.
